THEPRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 1, 2010

  1. VICE-PRESIDENT VICKI ANN HARDING CALLS FOR AN INVESTIGATION BY THE FOREMAN AND GRAND JURY FOR BALTIMORE CITY TO INVESTIGASTE THE ONGOING COVER-UP OF PUBLIC OFFICIAL CORRUPTION AND ORGANIZED CRIME THAT PLAGUES  BALTIMORE CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Vicki Ann Harding is calling for a Baltimore City Grand Jury to investigate and to return criminal indictment(s) against Baltimore City Public School System officials, and employees, including, but not limited to, Susan Burgess, Tracy Larkins, Monique Hibbert, Asia Hunt (former employee), Gladys Keaton (former employee), and other instructional support staff in the 2006-07 and 2007-08 test scores scandal at George Washington Elementary School, a purported National Blue Ribbon School.

Ms. Harding alleges that in addition, that the egregious scheme to cover-up a city-wide test scores scandal involves other  elected and appointed public officials, including, but not limited to, Dr. Andres Alonso, Dr. Nancy Grasmick, Governor Martin O’Malley, Leslie Wilson, William Cappe, Brian Morris (former chair),  Tisha Edwards, Jose Rosado, Donna Hawkins, Tammy Turner, Councilwoman Mary Pat Clark, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Sheila Dixon (former mayor) Council President Bernard Jack Young  and the entire current Board of School Commissioners.

According to Ms. Harding a Grand Jury investigation will present facts that Mrs. Burgess did not act alone in the test scores scandal; that contrary to Mrs. Burgess’ statements to Erica Green of the Baltimore Sun Paper, Ms Burgess, et al knew and directly participated in the scandal at George Washington Elementary, and that scandal is by no means, an isolated situation; and that in addition thereto there has been a collective effort to conceal the widespread cheating throughout the city, as well as statewide.
